- A shoutout to Stacy Dicesare, who is taking blood donation to another level! Not only is she a 10-gallon donor, but she got a tattoo of the RI Blood Center’s mug design. (@RIBloodCenter)
- A co-owner of J&J Drywall Inc. admitted in federal court that “he and his business partner paid their employees in cash and failing to account for federal and state employment taxes through 2013 to 2017.” They allegedly paid their employees at job sites out of “backpacks full of cash.” He will be sentenced on July 14. The IRS lost federal tax revenue in an amount of $2,821,463. (ABC)
- Saturday is opening day of freshwater fishing season! Pete’s Bait & Tackle at 341 Burnside Avenue has stocked its shelves. Best of all, the owners say that things are better after last year’s supply change problems. (The Call)
- April 2, the softball teams of Mount Saint Charles Academy and Woonsocket High played a non-league game. However, they will soon compete against each other in earnest as Division II-North opponents. “The Novans are dealing with a couple of injuries to start their season, while the Mounties are still fielding a young team.” (The Valley Breeze)
- Would you be willing to find a designated driver and head to Warwick to drink a beer for a good cause? The Apponaug Brewing Co. at 334 Knight Street is serving Chief Brody’s Brew, a light ale, on tap. “$1 from each pint poured will go toward the cause” of helping the Warwick Police Department’s community division “raise money for a compassion dog.” “If all goes as planned, he said they will obtain the dog by the end of April.” (WJAR)
