Thursday Five: Americorps, Youth Summit, Library Vacation Week

We're mostly through the week - check out a few new things to know:

 

Americorps at RiverzEdge Apply to be a summer or year-long AmeriCorps VISTA member at Riverzedge. Four positions are open that will build capacity for pilot summer and year-round programs for youth. For more info and to apply, visit http://americorps.gov/.

Youth Summit - The second annual Youth Summit will be held on Friday, April 19 atWoonsocket High School from noon to 8 pm. The event will include food, workshops and many youth-led activities. Parents areinvited to the evening program that begins at 6 p.m. For more information, contact Roth Nhar at 401-235-6001 or visit www.famresri.org for the Summit registration form. This event is organized by the Woonsocket After School Coalition and the northern Rhode Island Family Care Community Partnership.

Vacation Week at the Library - April School vacation week programs are under way at the Woonsocket Harris Public Library: Wednesday evening Yoga 6:30; Thursday Author Emily McKeon, 1:30 p.m.; Friday Book Swap 1:30 p.m.; Saturday Money Smart Kids, 2 p.m. All programs are suitable for ages 5 & up. Rabies Clinic May 4 - The Woonsocket Animal Shelter, sponsored by and in conjunction with the RI VMA (RI Veterinary Medical Association) will hold a Rabies Clinic May 4 at Woonsocket Animal Shelter, 105 Cumberland Hill Road from noon to 1:30 p.m. Bring your dogs, cats, and ferrets, and $12 per animal.

The licensing clerk from City Hall will also be there to renew and or issue dog licenses.

Red Maples For Recyclables -  On Saturday April 20, the first 200 Woonsocket residents that bring recyclables to the Woonsocket Recycle Facility located at 943 River St bewteen 7 a.m. and 3:30 p.m. will receive a FREE Red Maple Tree seedling. Recyclables include: TVs, all electronic waste, all appliances, propane tanks, rigid plastic, books, large cardboard, all metals, gas grills, etc.
