Here are the top five stories today in Woonsocket:

  1. Who scribbled graffiti on the Villa Nova Middle School retaining wall “between late Saturday night and early Sunday morning?” Mayor Lisa Baldelli-Hunt was disappointed to see “painted stick figures, the word “angel” and obscene gestures” in red and black spray paint. There is a $500 reward for catching the vandals; please Detective Joseph Brazil at (401) 597-5769 or Detective Michael Velino at (401) 597-5804. (WPRI)
  2. The Oak Hill Cemetery trustee wants you to know that it’s not true that “the burial grounds on Rathbun Street are rundown and in need of a lot of work.” A letter to the editor had alleged such disrepair, but the trustee responded Thursday. “What some people don’t seem to understand, (the trustee) said, is that this was a forest here when the cemetery was designed, and the founders wanted to be buried around nature.” (The Valley Breeze)
  3. On Tuesday, the Rhode Island State Police executed 12 search warrants at a local motorcycle club. Termed “Operation Charlie Horse,” the officers arrested three people. Two are members of the Outlaw Motor Clubhouse. One is a non-member. Searches netted officers a wide variety of drugs, body armor, and cash. (ABC)
  4. On Saturday, the PD arrested a 63-year-old suspect for alleged indecent exposure on Diamond Hill Road. A witness said he was “on the sidewalk with his pants all the way down.” Allegedly, the suspect then proceeded to “wash his genitals with beer.” (The Call)
  5. On Tuesday, the Supreme Court of Rhode Island issued its opinion in Cynthia Boss v. Christine Chamberland, in her capacity as Finance Director for the City of Woonsocket and the Woonsocket School Department, et al. They affirmed the judgment for the defendant in the whistleblower case. (Rhode Island Courts)
