Woonsocket Firefighters Extinguish Greene Street Fire

Woonsocket firefighters put out a fire at a house at 227 Greene St. near the corner of Bernon Street about 10 a.m. today. 

The two-alarm call went out at about 9:20 a.m., according to a report on twitter from Matthew Gregoire at @ProvFireVideos, who posted a photo from the scene.

Firefighters found heavy fire on the second floor that had extended into the attic, according to reports. In Gregoire's photo, smoke billowed from an open window at the roof's peak as firefighters atop the building attempted to reach the blaze from above.
