Library Hours

The library’s regular hours are Monday, Wednesday, and Thursday, 9 a.m. to 9 p.m., and Tuesday, Friday, and Saturday, 9 a.m. to 5 p.m.

Poetry Contest

To honor National Poetry Month in April, the Friends of the Woonsocket Harris Public Library are sponsoring the library’s annual poetry contest.  Poems may be submitted at the library from April 1st to April 27th. Limit of 2 submissions per person. Submissions will be accepted by email at efuqua@woonsocketlibrary.org, mail, fax, and in person. Entries for grades 6 & up must be typed.  Please include name, address,  and phone number. Students should include name, phone #, grade, school, and teacher’s name.  First, second and third prizes will be awarded in each age category.  Winners are invited to share their poems at our Open Mic Poetry Night at the Library on Wednesday, May 29th, 7-8:30pm.

Adult Knitting Circle
Thursdays, 7-8:30 p.m.
Knitters and crocheters of all levels of experience are invited to attend this crafting circle. Led by experienced knitter and crocheter, Jen Grover.  Donations of yarn are appreciated!

Northern Rhode Island Camera Club Meeting
Thursday, April 4, 7 p.m.
This purpose of this group is for people interested in photography to get involved locally. We hope to plan workshops, field trips, meetings, and competitions.

Parlons Francais
Thursday, April 11, 7  p.m.
Parlons Francais, a French conversation group, is open to anyone with an interest in returning to their French-Canadian roots. For more information, call Sylvia Bartholomy at 769-1623.

Rhode Island Blood Center Blood Drive
Monday, April 22, 3-6 p.m.
Patients in area hospitals need blood every day, and just one pint of blood from a donor can help save up to three lives. Be an everyday hero and donate blood!

April Computer Classes
The Woonsocket Harris Public Library is offering the following computer classes during the month of April:
Introduction to Computers, Wednesday, April 10, 6-7:30 p.m.
Introduction to Microsoft Office, Wednesday April 17, 6-7:30 p.m.
How to Email Attachments, Wednesday, April 24, 6-7:30 p.m.
The classes are free, but space is limited.  To register, please call the Reference Desk at 767-4124. 

Book Club
Wednesday, April 24, 7 p.m.
April’s Book Club title is the Reading Across Rhode Island selection for 2013, The Beauty of Humanity Movement, by Camilla Gibb. Written Word Writing Group
Thursdays, 7:15 p.m.
An outlet for adult writers of all leanings: poetry, journaling, prose, short story, sermon, comedy, script writing, puppets.  No critiquing.  All are welcome and there is no charge.
