Candidates set for city elections

Crowded field includes West Ashley City Council districts, mayor and CPW commissioner

CHARLESTON - Filing for municipal elections closed yesterday with more than 20 people signing up to run for available seats in the city.

The mayoral race and CPW Board election are city-wide, though there is only a single candidate for the CPW Board seat.

Five of the six City Council seats up for election include parts of West Ashely. Only the District 1 seat does not cover any of West Ashley, and it is the only City Council race in which the incumbent is running unopposed.
