West Ashley Pack Cub Scouts hold recruiting fair tonight at Orange Grove School

CHARLESTON - The West Ashley Pack Cub Scouts are looking for new members and are holding a recruiting fair at 6:30 tonight at Orange Grove School at 1225 Orange Branch Drive.
Founded on 12 core principals (Citizenship, Compassion, Cooperation, Courage, Faith, Health and fitness, Honesty, Perseverance, Positive attitude, Resourcefulness, Respect and Responsibility), the service oriented organization claims approximately one out of every four American males in leadership positions as members.
"We're really a family organization," Ginny Garris said. "When a child signs up a parent also signs up. We rely on the parents to be involved and do the activities with their scout."

Garris is a Den mother with 10 Cub Scouts, one of nine current dens in Pack 79, which primarily serves West Ashely. The pack plans to expand the number of dens following tonight's event to accomodate new members. Each den typically has 6-10 scouts.
Cub Scouts offers a way for parents to have a say in the type of group their son joins, Garris said.
