Gaston Man Charged with Shooting at House with Kids Inside

The shooting happened on June 28 at a home on Meadowfield Road near Gaston.

A GastonΒ man is charged with firing shots from a handgun into a homeΒ with two young boys inside, according to the Lexington County Sheriff's Department.

TwoΒ adults were alsoΒ at theΒ Meadowfield RoadΒ home when the shots were fired into it on June 28, according to the Lexington County Sheriff's Department.Β The adults and the boysΒ were notΒ injured.Β 

Deputies and fugitive investigators arrestedΒ Michael Orlando β€œDuck” Brown, 31, of 205 Oak Top Court inΒ Gaston aroundΒ 8 p.m. on Friday and charged him withΒ four counts of attempted murder and one count of discharging a firearm into a dwelling, according to the sheriff's department.

Deputies sayΒ that at about 4:15 a.m. on June 28 Brown fired multiple shots fromΒ a 9-mm handgun into a home on Meadowfield Road. They are still investigating theΒ motive for the incident.

Detectives recovered eight shell casings from a 9-mm handgun as well as a cellΒ phone that belonged to Brown in the front yard of the Meadowfield Road home, according to the sheriff's department.Β 

When they executed a search warrant on a vehicle Brown owns, detectivesΒ found six additional shell casings that ballistics tests performed by the South Carolina LawΒ Enforcement Division show were fired from the same 9-mm handgun that was used to fireΒ bullets into the home on Meadowfield Road.

At the time of the shooting incident, the 6-year-old boy and 7-year-old boy were asleep inΒ bedrooms at the Meadowfield Road home with their mother and theirΒ uncle, according to the sheriff's department. Deputies found multipleΒ bullets penetrated the master bedroom at the home as well as the front door, front porch and living room.

BrownΒ is being held without bond at the LexingtonΒ County Detention Center.
