National Night Out Set for Tuesday

Neighborhoods across the Town of Lexington are invited to join forces with thousands of communities nationwide Tuesday for the 30th Annual National Night Out crime and drug prevention event.

The event, which is sponsored nationally by the National Association of Town Watch and locally by the Lexington Police Department, will be from 5:30 to 8 p.m. at Gibson Pond Park. 

Residents can enjoy a cookout, fishing, displays, and a child safety seat 
checkpoint to make sure your child’s seat is installed correctly. 

The Lexington County Sheriff's Department is also hosting National Night Out events across the county.

The event will involve more than 10,000 communities from all 50 states, U.S. territories, Canadian cities and military bases around the world.

National Night Out is designed to heighten crime and drug prevention awareness, generate support for and participation in local anticrime efforts, strengthen neighborhood spirit and police-community partnerships, and (4) send a message to criminals letting them know that neighborhoods are organized and fighting back.
