National Night Out Set for Tuesday
Lexington's National Night Out is set for Tuesday evening at Gibson Pond Park.

Neighborhoods across the Town of Lexington are invited to join forces with thousands of communities nationwideΒ Tuesday for the 30th Annual National Night Out crime and drug prevention event.
The event, which is sponsored nationally by the National Association of Town Watch and locally by the Lexington Police Department, will be from 5:30 to 8 p.m. at Gibson Pond Park.Β
Residents can enjoyΒ a cookout, fishing, displays, and a child safety seatΒ
checkpoint to make sure your childβs seat is installed correctly.Β
The Lexington County Sheriff's Department is also hosting National Night Out events across the county.
The event will involve more than 10,000 communities from all 50 states, U.S. territories, Canadian cities and military bases around the world.
National Night Out is designed to heighten crime and drug prevention awareness,Β generate support for and participation in local anticrime efforts, strengthen neighborhoodΒ spirit and police-community partnerships, and (4) send a message to criminals letting them knowΒ that neighborhoods are organized and fighting back.
