West Columbia Dist. 1 City Councilman Mike Green elected West Columbia Mayor Pro-Tem (westmetronews.com) — West Columbia District 1 Councilman Mike Green has been chosen by his colleagues to serve as Mayor Pro-Tem, a leadership role that will influence decisions affecting nearby Lexington-area communities. Green, first elected in 2017 and re-elected in 2025, says he’s focused on keeping West Columbia “moving in the right direction,” a priority closely tied to regional growth in Lexington County.
   

2. Dare County judge sentences Tiffany Phillips to 75 days in jail for vehicle death charge (wcti12.com) — A Lexington woman has been sentenced to 75 days in jail and a year of supervised probation after being convicted of misdemeanor death by vehicle in a June crash in Dare County, North Carolina. Court records show she must also complete 75 hours of community service and pay over $1,400 in fines and costs after a head-on collision that killed another driver.
   

3. Family's holiday light display spreads joy to Lexington neighborhood (wistv.com) — A Lexington family in the Stoney Creek subdivision has turned their front yard into a massive holiday light and inflatable display that’s become a neighborhood tradition. Ann and Kevin Myhill say their 5,000 lights and 30 inflatables are all about spreading joy, especially as news feels heavier. Neighbors are invited to enjoy the whimsical scene, from sea creatures to Darth Vader and Santa.
   

4. Powerball jackpot soars to $1 billion with no winner (counton2.com) — Lexington lottery players should double-check their Powerball tickets after a $50,000 DoublePlay winner was sold at Pitt Stop #41 in town. With no jackpot winner, the prize has climbed to $1 billion, and players across South Carolina are being urged to review recent numbers. Winners have 180 days to claim prizes through the South Carolina Education Lottery.
