- What a find! Native American history has been unearthed from Lake Waccamaw. A 28-foot-long Waccamaw Indian dug-out canoe was found by teenagers in the Lake. It's thought to be nearly 1,000 years old. Three teenagers came upon the piece of history while swimming in the lake during the summer of 2021. The process to unearth the relic was a long one and the local Native American group was involved. The canoe is now being taken to a lab in Greenville to be preserved and studied. (wpde.com)
- Mark your calendars for the The World’s Strongest Man Competition, which is set to come to Myrtle Beach April 18-23 at Burroughs & Chapin Pavilion Place. The competition invites competitors from around the world to demonstrate their skills and compete for the prestigious title. Spectator admission is free and open to the public. (Visit Myrtle Beach)
- Socastee High School basketball coach and beloved community Derrick Hilton is fighting renal cancer. To help with offsetting some of his treatment and medical costs, the Palmetto Pointe Church of God donated its entire church offering from Easter Sunday to Hilton, totaling around $30,000. A very thankful Hilton was moved by the generousity and said he will keep fighting and continue to attend church every Sunday! (WMBF)
