1. Woman went for pedicure at Myrtle Beach spa. It used contaminated water, suit says (myrtlebeachonline.com) — A Pennsylvania woman is suing En Vogue Salon and Day Spa in Myrtle Beach, alleging contaminated water during a 2023 pedicure led to a severe leg and foot infection and costly medical treatment. The suit claims staff ignored her diabetes concerns and failed to properly sanitize equipment, and she’s seeking damages, legal costs, and interest.
   

2. $50K Powerball ticket sold at Myrtle Beach Food Lion; jackpot jumps to $1.5B (wpde.com) — A $50,000 Powerball ticket was sold at the Food Lion on North Kings Highway in Myrtle Beach, and lottery officials are urging local players to double-check their numbers. No one hit the jackpot Wednesday, so Saturday’s drawing has climbed to $1.5 billion, with winners having 180 days to claim prizes.
   

3. Horry County woman facing several counts of tax evasion (wmbfnews.com) — A Myrtle Beach woman has been arrested in Horry County on multiple state tax evasion charges tied to income earned between 2021 and 2024. State revenue officials allege she failed to file required South Carolina returns and owes more than $43,000, with potential prison time and fines if convicted.
   

4. SC school district will tighten its belt after ‘too high' travel spending amid financial crisis (postandcourier.com) — A South Carolina school district under state oversight is cutting back on travel spending, some of which has gone to conferences hosted at hotels in Myrtle Beach and other cities. State education officials pushed out the former superintendent and installed a state-paid leader who still reports directly to Columbia. Most of the questioned expenses were for conferences and trainings that districts commonly attend.
   

5. Man charged with arson after setting tires set on fire in NMB: Report (wpde.com) — North Myrtle Beach police say a man has been charged with third-degree arson after surveillance video allegedly showed him setting fire to tires on a Riverside Drive vehicle, following several weeks of reported tire damage. Three vehicles were affected across multiple incidents, and the suspect was arrested, booked into J. Reuben Long Detention Center, and later released.
