Here are the top three stories today in Myrtle Beach:

  1. In an effort to add beauty, public value and a sense of community to the area, the Myrtle Beach Downtown Alliance (MBDA) has announced the new addition of a "pocket park" at 520 Broadway Street across from the upcoming Swig and Swine restaurant and adjacent to Our Kids Create. On Saturday, April 29, MBDA employees and neighborhood volunteers will busy sprucing up the area to bring the park's master plan to life.(wpde.com)
  2. On Saturday, April 29 at the Grand Park in Market Common the opening ceremonies for the 15th annual Dragon Boat Festival will begin at 8 a.m. The event boasts teams of 20 paddlers each and a drummer who race each other for the fastest time in their division. Besides being a great competition to watch and compete in the race also raises money for Ground Zero, a teen ministry for middle and high school students. Hope to see you there!(WMBF)
  3. Sixty-four-year-old John Danley Jr., who suffered from a medical condition involving memory loss was last seen on April 21 on the Tomoka Trail in the Longs area and was reported missing. According to WMBF, "Darris Fowler with the Horry County Coroner’s Office said Danley’s body was recovered in an empty lot off in the 3300 block of East Highway 9 near the Little River area. An autopsy was ordered to determine the cause of death, but Fowler said no foul play is expected. The Horry County Police Department is investigating. (WMBF)
