Here are the top four stories today in Myrtle Beach:

  1. Congratulations to Laurent Balogh who has been named the 2023 Young Professional of Year by the Grand Strand Young Professionals (GYP). Balogh reportedly moved to the area from Cleveland, Ohio in 2010 and has been a member of GYP for the past three years. Involved in a bevy of different organizations, Balogh, who works as a court reporter, spends her free time involved with St. Michael’s Catholic Church, the International Junior League, Change Makers, and helps out with the Animal Shelter each weekend. In addition, she is a member of GYP, and a board member for SC Smiles Dental. Congratulations Lauren! Great job! (wpde.com)
  2. Most people who have been to a live theatre show would agree that there is something magical about being immersed in the moment. Loving that feeling, Steve Mariott, founder of the "The Open Curtain" Theatre, which just opened on Burcale Road at the Moose Lodge, felt that the area needed more live theatre so more people could feel that feeling. The first show at the theatre, “California Suite” will run through until next weekend. Next up, the play, “Curtain Up.” Auditions for that show will start February 20. 3. Don't forget, there is a job fair today! The Lazarus Entertainment Group is looking for people to join the team for the 2023 season. They're hosting a job fair today from 10 a.m. - 3 p.m. at Broadway Grand Prix Family Race Park, located at 1820 21st Ave N, Myrtle Beach. All potential applicants will have to fill out an application and conduct an on sight interview. According to wpde.com, "pay for jobs starts at $14 per hour with room to grow within all positions." 4. Left in two pieces after sustaining damaged during Hurricane Ian, work on the first portion of Cherry Grove Pier is reportedly almost completed. Hopes are that the project will be concluded sometime this spring. Finger crossed! (WMBF)
