1. Shooting reported near Coastal Grand Mall in Myrtle Beach. Here's what we know (myrtlebeachonline.com) — Police say one person was injured in a late-morning shooting Saturday near Coastal Grand Mall on Pine Island Road in Myrtle Beach, and the victim was taken to a local hospital with non-life-threatening injuries. Expect an increased law enforcement presence in the area while officers investigate, and note that no arrests had been announced as of publication.
   

2. Local high school teams compete in 45th annual Beach Ball Classic at Myrtle Beach (wpde.com) — Myrtle Beach basketball fans can catch the 45th annual Beach Ball Classic at the Myrtle Beach Convention Center, where top girls teams are already on the court and boys play after Christmas. Myrtle Beach High’s girls just beat West Brunswick, while Socastee fell to Ben Lippen, and both Myrtle Beach and Socastee have Monday matchups against James Island and Conway.
   

3. Man accused of firing gun, holding woman during Horry County standoff (wmbfnews.com) — Police say a Conway man fired shots during a house party on Patty Lane in the Myrtle Beach area, then barricaded himself in a nearby home before surrendering to a SWAT team. He now faces multiple charges, including assault, kidnapping, weapons violations, and drug possession, and remains held at J. Reuben Long Detention Center as investigators continue reviewing evidence.
   

4. Man charged with arson after setting tires set on fire in NMB: Report (wpde.com) — Police in nearby North Myrtle Beach say a man has been charged with third-degree arson after surveillance video showed someone setting fire to tires on a Riverside Drive vehicle. Officers linked the incident to weeks of tire slashing and damage affecting three family vehicles before an arrest earlier this month.
   

5. SC gas prices plummet ahead of holiday travel. See if they will drop more by Christmas Day (myrtlebeachonline.com) — Holiday travelers from the Myrtle Beach area can expect some of the cheapest December gas prices since 2020, with South Carolina’s average around $2.56 and Horry County at $2.47 per gallon. Analysts say prices could dip a bit more by Christmas, so checking apps like AAA and GasBuddy before you hit the road may help you snag the lowest local rates.
