- Last night, Horry County Fire helped a group of siblings that were stuck in a storm drain. The baby ducks were rescued from a storm drain on Cedar Lakes Drive in Little River. According to wpde.com, "firefighters carefully removed the baby ducks and released them into a nearby pond, uninjured." (wpde.com)
- Mark your calendars for Saturday, May 6 when the Junior ROTC teams compete in the third annual Horry County JROTC Drill Meet. You're invited to watch as young men and women from eight Horry Council high schools compete for bragging rights in this Horry County drill competition. The event begins at 9 a.m. in the Myrtle Beach Pelicans’ parking area. Local US Army recruiters will serve as judges for the competition, which concludes with an individual “knockout” competition, where the students compete to following the recruiters’ marching orders. Following the drill meet, everyone’s invited to the Military Family Member Social at the Pelicans’ Picnic Area. - Helping parents in need at St. James Middle School Junior Beta club donated baby supplies to Tidelands Health Pediatrics. The students solicited donations from fellow students and local businesses. (wpde.com) .
- On April 29 from 6 a.m. to 4:50 p.m. in Murrells Inlet, the 20th Annual Flounder Tournament will be held, hosted by the Grand Strand Saltwater Anglers Association. There will be both an adult and youth division. There will be a $1,500 prize for the largest flounder by weight. Tournament weigh-in is at Crazy Sisters Marina. Registration is $50 for adults and $20 for youths. (wpde.com)
