- Doing good and giving back in the community, Shane Zoccole is making a difference. According to wpde.com, "Zoccole and his army of volunteers make up the organization Spokes of Hope. Named after the former biker bar in Loris, they utilize as their base of operations. When Hurricane Florence was cresting off of the coast, Zoccole said the calling was clear that he needed to help others. "September 14 was a defining day for me. I cried out to God and said Lord use me. My community was about to come under attack, the waters were rising," he said. Out of that need, Spokes of Hope was formed. From repairing homes after natural disasters to feeding the hungry, Zoccole and his crew find a way and the resources to fill those needs, calling themselves not first responders, but faith responders. Zoccole is also mobilizing volunteers for his mission to rescue food for those in need through a program he named Horry Eats. Currently, Spokes of Hope is providing help on the ground in Florida in the aftermath of hurricane Ian. If you'd like to learn more about volunteering with Spokes of Hope, click here (wpde.com)
- According to WMBF, "One person is dead after a shooting in the Longs area.
Horry County Deputy Coroner Michelle McSpadden said the incident happened Thursday evening at a home on Jefferson Road. She added that 51-year-old Bobby Liles, died of a gunshot wound. The Horry County Police Department is investigating." (WMBF)
