Here are the top stories today in Myrtle Beach:
- In an effort to help refugees from Ukraine, Syria and Afghanistan, the Myrtle Beach Area Chamber of Commerce and Lutheran Services Carolinas have united for a new program called the "New Americans Program," which reportedly has plans of bringing approximately 75 refugees to the area, starting this spring to offer them a safe haven in Myrtle Beach. The refugees will live here while adapting to and learning the culture and get help finding employment! (WBTW)
- Big news for North Myrtle Beach! Pepsi Bottling Ventures will be moving in soon to the new Palmetto Coast Industrial Park which will be located near Watertower Road and Highway 31. The park will reportedly consist of four industrial buildings on a 69-acre parcel of land. According to wpde.com, "Horry County Council gave the green light to bring in big business, as they approved the final reading for the Palmetto Coast Industrial Park."(wpde.com)
- And the area keeps growing! A reportedly vacant five acre parcel of land located at the corner of Pine Island Road and Seaboard Street will not remain vacant for very much longer. Plans are to build retail stores and an approximately 200 unit aparatment complex on the property which is close to the Coastal Grand Mall. The neccessary approval from the Myrtle Beach City Council has been obtained for the project to move forward. (WMBF)
- Get them started young! The New Year, New Intentions Kids Yoga Workshop being held at Real Hot Yoga's new Magnolia Row location will be held for kids Saturday, Jan. 28 from 2 p.m. to 3:30 p.m. According to wpde.com, "Amanda Stinnet of Real Hot Yoga said, "We are really excited to finally have a kid's yoga studio within our regular hot studio so that we can do kid's classes and kid's workshops, and we can start building a kid's yoga program."'
