📰 Here are the top stories in Myrtle Beach today:

  1. A house fire snarled traffic near Socastee Boulevard and Everette Street on Wednesday morning. In about an hour, firefighters were able to put out the blaze. There were “no injuries reported.” (WMBF)
  2. The folks at Winna’s Kitchen, at 819 Main Street, walked into a mess with water dripping through the ceiling. They soon found out that a “water main burst and flooded the restaurant,” resulting in a closure on Wednesday. “For NYE dinner—TBD! We’re working to find a way to still make dinner happen on Saturday! If you have reservations, we’ll be in contact ASAP.” (Myrtle Beach Sun News, Winna’s Kitchen)
  3. Pulte Homes is ready to start construction on a 1,700-home development. We learned on Wednesday that it will be located “on the south end of Myrtle Beach, near the intersection of S.C. 544 and U.S. 17 Bypass.” The “730-acre residential subdivision” will be close to the Saybrook Town Center. Estimates suggest that potential buyers could have some properties to look at by spring. (The Post and Courier/paywall)
  4. Honor Pfc. Joe McGarry by participating in a 2.63-mile walk today, Thursday, at 4 p.m. The start is at the Warren S. Gall Police Training Annex in Market Common. This walk is in memory and in honor of 28-year-old McGarry, who was “shot and killed 20 years ago in 2002 while trying to talk to a murder suspect at a Dunkin' Donuts on North Kings Highway.” (WBTW)
