Here are the top five stories today in Myrtle Beach:

  1. On Sunday evening a very special prayer vigil was held at T. Craig Campbell Boat Landing in Little River for missing boater Tyler Doyle who has been missing since Jan. 26. Doyle reportedly went duck hunting in a jon boat when a small craft advisory was in effect. According to WBTW, "a small-craft advisory means “seas were rough and not conducive for smaller vessel operation." Doyle was hunting at the Little River jetties. Pastor Jimmy Floyd from Dogwood Hill Baptist Church spoke at the vigil. According to WBTW he said, '“there’s no evidence of death, so we’re still looking for life. Although many have said it’s impossible, there’s nothing impossible with God.”'(WBTW)
  2. A new non-stop route is coming this summer to the Myrtle Beach International Airport.
Beginning in June, Allegiant Airlines will add a new nonstop route to Akron. One-way fares on the new route will be offered as low as $39 for an introductory rate. According to WMBF, "Drew Wells, Allegiant senior vice president and chief revenue officer said,“we’re thrilled to expand our footprint at Myrtle Beach International Airport and expect travelers will enjoy this nonstop summer service to visit family and friends in Ohio." Flights must be purchased by Feb. 21, for travel by Aug. 13." (WMBF)
  3. Have you noticed that prices at the pump are creeping up again? In the past week, the average price for gas has gone up approximately six cents in the Myrtle Beach area. However, the good news is that prices are still a reported 25.7 cents lower than this same time last year. (WMBF)
