Here are the top four stories today in Myrtle Beach:
- In hopes of keeping area students even safer, state troopers have extra eyes on Grand Strand roads, looking out for drivers who are not abiding by the stop-arm rules. According to WMBF, "a stop-arm violation is when a driver speeds past a school bus despite the bus signaling traffic to stop." Reportedly, since September, in the state of South Carolina, more than 2,000 stop-arm violations have occurred. Thankfully only a handful of those violations were in Horry County. However, troopers have identified the most common areas in the county where these violations occur and have ramped up patrol in those areas. So please, drive carefully and obey all safety rules, especially when it comes to school children and buses. (WMBF)
- Tony Dotson Jr., 29, of the Myrtle Beach area, reportedly died late Sunday night. He crashed his 2004 Suzuki motorcycle on Kings Road. According to WBTW, "the motorcycle went off the right side of the road and hit a curb, throwing the driver off the bike and into a street sign. Dotson was pronounced dead at Grand Strand Medical Center." (WBTW)
