Here are the top four stories today in Myrtle Beach:

  1. Have you noticed a little more relief at the pump this week? According to WMBF," GasBuddy’s survey of 197 stations [in the state] the cheapest one is selling gas at $2.79 a gallon while the most expensive stands at $3.29. The average price in South Carolina is $2.94 a gallon while nationwide the average price is $3.28." (WMBF)
  2. Sending your child to college can be very costly. To help offset this financial hardship, the Myrtle Beach Chamber is awarding high school seniors with college scholarships. According to WMBF, "one scholarship will be awarded to a graduating senior from 14 different high schools across the Grand Strand. The chamber’s Educational Foundation Scholarship has helped students with their first-year college expenses for more than a decade. The Educational Foundation board of directors decides the amount of the scholarship and in the last five years has awarded more than $50,000. Karen Riordan, president and CEO of the MBACC, said the scholarship is all about giving back to the community and seeing your children succeed. Completed applications must be submitted to school guidance counselors no later than Wednesday, January 18. (WMBF)

  4. This weeks weather shows a warm-up. According to WMBF, "even with the rain on Tuesday, we don’t really see a cold front fully make it through our area. In response, our temperature trend will continue to climb through Wednesday and Thursday. Highs will reach the upper 60s to lower 70s through the middle of the week before another system brings rain chances Thursday." Enjoy the nice weather while it lasts. (WMBF)
