Here are the top four stories in Myrtle Beach today:
- According to WMBF, "a potential ordinance could ban bikes from the beaches during the summer in one part of the Grand Strand. If passed, the ordinance would ban normal and electric bicycles from the beach during daytime hours (9:30 a.m. to 5:30 p.m.) from May 15 through Sept. 15. It cites bikes and riders who aren’t paying attention as a possible danger to other beachgoers, including families with small children. … The next scheduled city council meeting isn’t until Feb. 20, but it’s unclear if the proposal will be brought before city leaders again." (WMBF)
- Although ‘Restaurant Week’ for most area restaurants is over, Hook and Barrel and its sister restaurant, Croissants, are stretching it throughout the rest of January. Yay! According to WBTW, "Cory Richardson, beverage director and front-of-house manager, said they extend the week because of how great it is for business." (WBTW)
- Are you looking for some laughs? Why not check out The Brewery Comedy Tour at Tidal Creek Brewhouse on Thursday, February 9th, at 7 p.m. According to WBTW, "top-notch comedians traveling the country in crews of 2-4 comedians [will be] performing seven nights a week in 48 states. Laughs are on tap for this nationwide comedy tour that has already hit 2000 venues across the U.S." (WBTW)

- The Humane Society of North Myrtle Beach: "Today's featured #PetOfTheDay is Elizabeth! Her adoption fee is being sponsored today by the Strand College of Hair Design. Elizabeth was surrendered to us in October due to her owner traveling. Upon intake, we noticed a mass on her abdomen, which, fortunately, was benign. She had the mass removed and a hernia repaired when she was spayed, and she healed nicely. Elizabeth is a mellow cat and can be a little shy at times. She is chatty and curious. Elizabeth loathes other cats and will need to be the only kitty in the home. To meet Elizbeth, please call 843-249-4948 to schedule an appointment." - The Humane Society of North Myrtle Beach: "Unsure of what to do when you find kittens? Watch this quick and informative video from our friends at Best Friends Animal Society! 😺 🐾" (The Humane Society of North Myrtle Beach via Facebook)
That's it for today. See you all tomorrow for another update!
