Here are the top four stories in Myrtle Beach today:
- Featuring the city of Myrtle Beach's part in World War II the construction of a new Warbird Park WWII Memorial is slated to begin in March. Some highlights of the memorial include a 1,000 square-foot-plus monument, a plaza with the world’s seven continents engraved into the concrete with markers indicating where all the world war battles took place, a star marking where Myrtle Beach is in the world, a granite wall with photos of the city’s contribution to the war, markers of the different battle groups that trained in Myrtle Beach, a sculpture, poems and columns surrounding the plaza representing each branch of the military. The memorial is will be fittingly located in what used to be an army airfield but is now Warbird Park. Plans are to have the project completed by November in time to have a grand reveal for Veterans Day! (WMBF)
- Myrtle Beach is never boring and in 2023 there are several new and exciting additions to the extraordinary beaches and friendly communities of this special place including Surfworks Myrtle Beach, the sloth exhibit can be seen at Ripley's Aquarium, Surfside Beach Pier reconstruction, Stars and Strikes Getaway-n-Play, Don's Deli, Seawitch Cafe and Bubba's Fish Camp and Smokehouse. Not to mention several new flight routes directly to Myrtle Beach from Denver, CO beginning in June, a new Holiday Inn Club Vacations which is slated to be completed by 2024 and work on a brand-new Arts and Innovation District. Wow, lots of excitement to come! (wpde.com)
- Gym enthusiasts are happy that Planet Fitness on Seaboard Street is once again open for business after months of being closed for renovations. Now customers can work out on the new equipment 24 hours a day Monday through Thursday. The gym closes at 10 p.m. on Fridays and is open from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. on Saturdays and Sundays. Hope to see you there! (wpde.com)
- Looking to add a fluffy ball of four-legged love and affection to your family and make a positive impact on the Myrtle Beach community at the same time? Maybe it's finally time to adopt a pet! Many pets are still looking for their forever home and shelters are still working to fulfill adoptions and place pets with families. With help from our friends at Petfinder, Patch has compiled this week’s list of animals available for adoption near you. Whether you’re looking for cuddles or companionship, one of these animals could be the perfect fit for your family. (Myrtle Beach Patch)
