Here are the top three stories in Myrtle Beach today:

  1. Nikki Haley will make her way to Myrtle Beach today to campaign in her home state. The former South Carolina governor announced that she was running for president almost a month ago stating that her goal, "is to save the nation from a downward spiral of socialism and defeatism.” According to Live 5 News WCSC, "Her rally will be held at Horry Georgetown Tech’s Grand Strand campus. Doors open at 5 p.m, with the event starting at 6 p.m." (Live 5 News WCSC)
  2. On Saturday, in the Carolina Forest area, two people were injured after a shooting occurred. Officers were reportedly called because there was an assault in the area of Birnamwood Court just after 4:45 p.m. While police were en route to the scene, reports about a shooting at the scene came in. According to WMBF, "the victim was found by officers and Horry County Fire Rescue personnel. Police said the suspect was located a short time later. Both the suspect and victim were taken to a hospital. An investigation about the incident is currently ongoing."(WMBF)
