Here are the top four stories in Myrtle Beach today:
- Peter Nein's gallery opening is scheduled for Thursday, February 9th from 4 p.m. to 9 p.m. at 515 Broadway Street in Myrtle Beach. Nein's new gallery will be highlighting his stained glass art. The long-time Myrtle Beach resident and art supporter will be featuring his designs, tables, doors and window pieces from crystals and stained glass. Hope to see you at the opening! (wpde.com)
- The Myrtle Beach Area Chamber of Commerce (MBACC) and Convention and Visitors Bureau Myrtle Beach Area Chamber has been awarded $25,000 from Santee Cooper’s EVolve Grant program for electric vehicle (EV) charging infrastructure and make-ready research. This grant will allow the Chamber the ability to install a public-use EV charger at its Visitors Center and offices at 1200 N. Oak St. According to the press release, for make-ready research, the chamber will conduct a comprehensive study to identify where EV chargers currently exist and where additional chargers are needed in the Grand Strand. (Press Release Desk)
- To combat an uptick in trespassing calls, the North Myrtle Beach Police Department has launched a new Trespassing Authorization Program, giving permission to police, to arrest or ticket anyone on your property, even when you’re not there. Prior to this new program, the "typical" process for dealing with trespassing was that police needed to contact the property owner first, and decide what action to take. Join the new program now by filling out an application with NMBPD. (WMBF)
- Within hours, registration for Surfside Beach parking was sold out for non-resident/non-owner parking. The new parking program in town has made car decals a thing of the past, instead, the system registers drivers by their license plates. (WMBF)
