Here are the top five stories today in Myrtle Beach:

  1. Would you like a 3-foot chocolate bunny from Kilwins and the opportunity to help reward deserving children at the same time? We've got you covered! All you have to do is donate to the North Myrtle Beach Police Department for its Junior K9 Program. The program, which runs off donations only, recognizes one student for positive behavior from five different schools each month. The Police Department will be raffling off the 3-foot, 22-pound chocolate bunny to help raise funds, but you can also donate to the program and the money will go to hold the ceremony for the students, give them a gift and make the badges with the student's names that they pin on K9 vests every month. Tickets are $5 each or $20 for five tickets. You can purchase tickets from the North Myrtle Beach Police Department or through their Facebook page by clicking here. Hope you win! (WMBF)
  2. Looking for something fun and different to do this weekend? Why not head over to Myrtle Beach High School for a special performance of Bravo Broadway? A Rodgers & Hammerstein Celebration on Saturday, February 25, from 7-9 p.m. Tickets are $48 to $58 for this Long Bay Symphony Tradition featuring artists from the Broadway stage, Scarlett Strallen, Hugh Panaro and welcoming Broadway star, Ben Davis! For more information go to www.longbaysymphony.com. (WBTW.com)
  3. Many locals have questions as to when the Myrtle Beach sand fencing and dunes damaged by Hurricane Ian will be repaired and restored. The answer is this summer, when the necessary equipment and materials needed are set to arrive. The plan is to replace the fencing from north to the south. In regard to the dunes, the city is asking that people be careful and stay off the dunes and let Mother Nature do her thing naturally to restore what has been lost. (wpde.com)
  4. Looking for a new career or to secure a job in a needed industry? The Pittsburgh Institute of Aeronautics (PIA) located in Myrtle Beach at 1038 Shine Ave. will host an open house on Saturday, February 25 at 11 a.m. You will have the chance to tour the hangar and classrooms, talk to faculty and students, learn about the 16-month program and speak with potential employers. (wpde.com)
  5. If you're shopping for a new house, there's a good chance you've already browsed through all the internet listings for your area. And while you probably have gotten a decent idea of what these houses are like from the photographs, there's just no comparison to witnessing the real thing. Ready to start hunting? To jump-start your search, we've put together a list of the five recently listed open houses scheduled in the Myrtle Beach area. That way, you can get a feel for what kinds of properties are available without committing to a house blindly. See the addresses, photos, prices and bedroom/bath information for all properties listed — such as one with 5 beds and 4 baths for $525,000, and another with 3 beds and 2 baths for $99,900.
