- The Miss Myrtle Beach and Miss Grand Strand Scholarship competition is just around the corner, reportedly happening on February 4th at the Legends in Concert Theatre in Myrtle Beach. - Sloths are one of the wonders of the animal world and now Ripley’s Aquarium of Myrtle Beach will be adding a sloth habitat to its array of exhibits this spring. According to a press release from the Aquarium, the Sloth Valley exhibit will allow guests to "come face-to-face with two-toed sloths to learn about this adorable, slow-moving species,” Other new additions coming this spring include, "new excitement to its Discovery Center, inviting guests to walk the plank and dive into oceans of family fun with a brand-new play structure, interactive experiences and hands-on animal encounters.” Can't wait to check it out! - "World-class" dinner theatre coming to Myrtle Beach. Performer Greg Rowles who has been at it for over four decades will be opening what is being called a "retro Vegas showroom-style" setting where guests can expect the venue to feature entertainment along with fine dining. According to wpde, "Renovations will begin soon on what was once home to Dixie Jubilee and most recently Valorous church. Updates can be found on GregRowlesDinnerTheatre.com and GregRowles.com." - Utilizing a $300,000 grant obtained from an opioid settlement fund, female inmates at the J. Reuben Long Detention Center now have access to the successful Next Steps program, a recovery program previously only available to male prisoners. The program allows women in jail to access a variety of classes and other resources. According to WBTW, "Currently, there are 36 women in the program. Participants must request to participate and complete an assessment that includes writing a one-page essay about why they should be accepted into the program."(WBTW)
