  1. Get ready for paid parking season! It starts Wednesday, March 1 and ends October 31. If you have noticed, Myrtle Beach city employees have begun to reinstall the 2,500 parking meters and pay stations around the city. There are three options for payment — traditional payment, pay through a Parkmobile phone app or text to park. Resident parking decals are available for those who have personal vehicles or motorcycles that live in Myrtle Beach and have paid their taxes on their vehicles. (wpde.com)
  2. Featuring over 40 beers on tap and mouthwatering, authentic Carolina BBQ and fresh seafood, Black Drum Brewing opened in the beginning of February as a highlight of Kingston Resorts, which is a mixed-use facility, featuring condos, hotels and other amenities. According to WMBF, "the brewery’s guests give it good reviews, saying they not only like the food and beer but also enjoy the atmosphere." Check it out if you are in the area! (WMBF)
  3. Do you suffer from allergies? The season for stuffy noses and watery eyes is approaching quickly. This year, you may want to try a local remedy for your allergies that's outside the box. The "buzz" is that Horry County honey can help. Reaching for local honey instead of a pill may be the answer you are looking for. The secret, according to wpde.com, "when bees make honey, pollen particles from plants they've pollinated make their way into the honey." Some of that pollen remains in the hive and gets into the honey. So, you're actually getting little bits of local flora when you take the honey. So, it builds up in your system and helps with allergies," explained Kim Wolf, an employee of Mountain Man Honey and Goods in downtown Conway." Give it a try! (wpde.com)
  4. There's a new drug in town and it's terrifying! It's called "Tranq"! Made from a veterinary tranquilizer called Xylazine. It is not an opioid, so Narcan doesn’t work on it and overdoses are more common when addicts use it along with opioids like fentanyl. The drug is reportedly, sweeping the nation." It has been deemed the "zombie drug" not only because it causes excessive drowsiness but because it rots the skin of users, sometimes all the way down to the bone and destroys the tissue at the injection site. According to wpde.com, "Myrtle Beach has not seen any cases of overdoses yet, [however] first responders are getting prepared."
