Here are the top three stories in Myrtle Beach today:

1. There will soon be no more parking decals for residents for Surfside Beach residents to put on their windshields during the paid season. Instead, the town is transitioning to, "License Plate Recognition (LPR)" to enforce parking, which will include resident license plates being added to the LPR system, when they are registered for a decal, instead of getting an actual decal. Then parking attendants will scan the license to make sure it’s valid and in the system. The new program is slated to begin on Feb. 6 and paid parking in town will start again on March 1 and continue through the end of October. (WMBF)
2. It was a touching moment shared between a girl and her dad and her classmates, Wednesday at Ocean Bay Elementary School when during lunch, Brittan Montroy was surprised by her dad, National Guard Technical Sgt. Leon Montroy. He had reportedly just come home from a six-month deployment in Asia. The reunited father and daughter were ecstatic to see one another! (wpde.com)
