  1. The family of DyQuavyon "Quay" Dickens has started a scholarship memorial to denounce gun violence. Seventeen-year-old Dickens, who was a tri-athlete playing football, track and field and basketball at South Florence High School, was killed last April in a shooting in downtown Myrtle Beach. According to wpde.com, "the scholarship will be awarded to a graduating senior athlete with a 2.7-grade point average. 'So, again we have to encourage each other. Pull and push each other. Talk to our young folks. Grabbing that weapon is not the way,' Officer Travis Scott said."(wpde.com)
  2. Mark your calendars for the The World’s Strongest Man Competition, which is set to come to Myrtle Beach April 18-23, at Burroughs & Chapin Pavilion Place. The competition invites competitors from around the world to demonstrate their skills and compete for the prestigious title. Spectator admission is free and open to the public. Hope to see you at this exciting event. (Visit Myrtle Beach)
  3. In an effort to improve the cyclist and driver relationship in Myrtle Beach, city officials are adding additional safety precautions for cyclists and pedestrians. Expect to see some areas in Myrtle Beach with more safety signage and new flashing crosswalk signs. In addition, the city of Myrtle Beach and the Myrtle Beach Police Department are working on a new safety brochure to remind drivers about pedestrians and cyclists and a bicycle road map is also in the works.
