District 98 recount set for Friday with Ford holding slim margin in unofficial tally (abcnews4.com) — A razor-thin House District 98 special election recount will happen Friday at 2 p.m. at the Election Warehouse in Summerville, where just 21 votes currently separate Republican Greg Ford and Democrat Sonja Ogletree-Satani. The recount’s outcome will decide who finishes Chris Murphy’s term and takes the seat when the Legislature convenes next week.
   

2. Three Charleston-area squads ranked No. 1 (postandcourier.com) — Summerville High’s boys basketball team took a tough 65-32 road loss to Cane Bay, which helped the Cobras climb to No. 3 in the statewide 5A Division I poll. Several other Charleston-area and Berkeley County teams, including Goose Creek and Berkeley, also earned high rankings in the latest South Carolina Basketball Coaches Association polls.
   

3. GameStop shutdown hits the Charleston area as stores close suddenly (postandcourier.com) — Summerville gamers still have a local GameStop option even as several nearby Charleston-area stores shut down in a nationwide wave of closures. Locations near Tanger Outlets, Moncks Corner, and Mount Pleasant have closed, while stores in West Ashley, Summerville, and two North Charleston sites remain open for now amid the company’s broader downsizing.
   

4. Summerville man accused of stealing more than 2 dozen packages from residents (live5news.com) — A Summerville man living at a North Charleston apartment complex has been arrested after police linked him to more than two dozen stolen packages from a shared mailroom. Officers say they found opened boxes and shipping bags tied to other residents in and around his unit. Many of the items, ranging from toys to protein powder, were later returned to their owners.
   

5. Summerville man charged with fentanyl induced homicide (live5news.com) — A 24-year-old Summerville resident has been arrested in connection with a fatal suspected overdose on James Island and now faces fentanyl-induced homicide and trafficking charges. Deputies say an undercover buy led to his arrest and the seizure of drugs, a firearm, cash, and a vehicle. The investigation remains active, and no trial details have been released.
