Here are the top three stories in Chattanooga today:

  1. The City of Chattanooga is using an equalization station to prevent flooding. The new wet weather equalization station has effectively prevented untreated wastewater from overflowing into the Tennessee River. It became fully operational in June and consists of three large storage tanks. The station can hold up to 30 million gallons of wastewater. (News Channel 9)
  2. The Chattanooga Police Department has launched its holiday season robbery initiative. The initiative is meant to raise awareness about the average increase in robberies and thefts which occur during the holiday season. Residents and businesses are asked to use increased caution as the holiday shopping season approaches. The department plans to be proactive in curbing the number of thefts. (WDEF)
  3. The Chattanooga Beer Board has approved five temporary beer permits for upcoming events. The permits were approved during the board meeting on Thursday. "Fire up the Fields," "Hoptown Beer Bar Oktoberfest," "VW Oktoberfest," "Chattajack," and a fundraiser for the Creative Discovery Museum were granted the permits. (The Chattanoogan)
