  1. The Chattanooga Fire Department reports that a fire on Riverside Drive has displaced two occupants. The fire occurred in the 2700 block around 7:27 p.m. It took about 20 minutes for the fire to be under control. The fire is currently under investigation. The occupants are being assisted by the American Red Cross. (The Chattanoogan)
  2. The Chattanooga City Council provided its initial approval for a rezoning effort for an old motel on Lee Highway. The rezoning will allow the development to transition into about 70 units of permanent supportive housing. The city is hopeful that the new development will positively impact the city's growing homeless population. As of January 2022, there are 1,008 homeless individuals in Hamilton County.   3. The Asian Lantern Festival is officially open at the Chattanooga Zoo. The festival will be held from 6:00 p.m. to 10:00 p.m. daily through Jan. 15.
