Here are the top three stories in Chattanooga today:

  1. The Chattanooga Fire Department has shared tips for the end of daylight saving time. The department is encouraging residents to check smoke detectors while changing their clocks. Take the time to check each device, its batteries, and its expiration date. A smoke detector should not be used for more than ten years. Click the link for the full list of tips. (Chattanooga Times Free Press)
  2. The U.S. Environmental Protection Agency has awarded the Chattanooga Leveling Environmental Equity Across Neighborhoods project with additional funding to increase the number of air sensors throughout the county. The grant is worth $491,171 and will be used to triple the number of air sensors. The new air quality sensor will provide the project with more real-time data on air pollutants. (Chattanooga Times Free Press)
  3. The Hamilton County Health Department reports flu cases are rising at a faster rate than anticipated. According to Dr. Stephen Miller, the department is "very concerned" about this year's flu season. The main factor contributing to the significant increase is a decrease in residual resistance and antibodies. (WDEF News 12)
