- The Franklin Fire Department responded to a home explosion on Saturday morning. The incident occurred in the Forest Acres neighborhood in the 2500 block of Maple Street shortly after 8:30 a.m. Multiple rounds of ammunition and an oxygen tank exploded during the fire. Two occupants were taken to a local hospital for treatment. Four residents have been displaced. (WDEF News 12)
- The State Building Commission has given approval for the University of Tennessee at Chattanooga's new health sciences building. The new 92,192-square-foot facility for its School of Nursing program will cost roughly $60.8 million to build. The approval was given unanimously. (TimesFreePress.com)
- County Attorney Rheubin Taylor has been dismissed from his position effective immediately. Taylor was notified by Hamilton County Mayor Weston Wamp late Friday afternoon about the decision. Mayor Wamp is currently searching for a new appointment to present to the County Commission. (TimesFreePress.com)
