Here are the top three stories in Chattanooga today:

  1. A U.S. District Court judge has approved a proposed sale of the former Sears and J.C. Penney stores at Northgate Mall. The stores were held by a fund run by John J. Woods. The property sales will aid in the redevelopment of the former anchor locations and surrounding parking lots. (Chattanooga Times Free Press)
  2. The Hamilton County Commission will be interviewing the open magistrate position candidates next week. The six candidates will be interviewed at 1:30 p.m. on Monday. The position became vacant when Magistrate Andrew Basley announced his departure for the District Attorney's Office. Click the following link for the list of candidates. (The Chattanoogan)
  3. The Hamilton County Sherriff's Office has arrested a Signal Mountain Middle High School student for submitting false reports. According to the department, the student made false shooting threat reports to a School Resource Deputy at the school on Sep. 6. The threats were reported through anonymous electronic formats.
