Chattanooga 2.0 Marks Ten Years (wdef.com) — Chattanooga 2.0 just celebrated ten years of work to improve education and career pathways for Hamilton County children, outlining ambitious new literacy and savings goals. Local leaders gathered downtown to highlight expanded career pathways, afterschool support, and a national grant that will strengthen opportunities for middle and high school students across Chattanooga and Hamilton County.
   

2. History vs townhomes: Residents in one Chattanooga neighborhood fight development plan (newschannel9.com) — Residents of Chattanooga’s Indian Hills neighborhood are organizing a petition against a proposal to build roughly 70–79 townhomes on a three-acre vacant lot on Agawela Drive, citing traffic and safety concerns. District 5 Councilman Dennis Clark says the plan is still preliminary and he’s asked the developer to scale back density and consider more single-family homes, promising community meetings before anything moves forward.
   

3. Tennessee to restrict sugary foods, drinks in SNAP purchases as demand at food bank grows (newschannel9.com) — Tennessee is tightening what SNAP benefits can buy, and Chattanooga families who rely on the Chattanooga Area Food Bank could feel the change as sugary drinks, candy, and some processed foods are phased out. Local food bank leaders say demand has surged across 20 counties and are ramping up education so SNAP recipients in the Chattanooga area understand the new rules and where to find healthier options.
   

4. Soddy-Daisy man charged with second-degree murder in brother's stabbing (timesfreepress.com) — Chattanooga police and Hamilton County authorities are handling a tragic stabbing case in Brainerd, where a 37-year-old man later died at a hospital. His brother, a Soddy-Daisy resident, has been indicted on second-degree murder and remains jailed on a $1 million bond, with a January court appearance scheduled in Chattanooga.
