  1. Dallas Startup Week this year will be held in Frisco from Sept. 10-14. This is a free week-long experience bringing together young entrepreneurs, corporate leaders, community supporters, and more to exchange ideas and build in the Dallas-Fort Worth area. Startup Week is seen as the largest entrepreneurial event in North Texas, which is perfect for the area as Dallas-Fort Worth is the 10th largest startup ecosystem in the country.   2. Omar Jorge Valle Estrada, a 37-year-old citizen of Mexico, was sentenced to 30 years in prison for possession and conspiracy to distribute methamphetamine. Estrada was caught with 120 pounds of crystal methamphetamine valued between $1.1 and $2.2 million during a traffic stop after he had visited a Dallas stash house where nearly $10 million worth of Mexican methamphetamine was being stored. Codefendants Angel Cabrera and Joaquin Salinas, who admitted concealing methamphetamine inside boxes of cauliflower, received sentences of more than 21 years and life, respectively. (WFAA.com)
  3. A pop-up called "The Subtract Experience" has opened up in Dallas to coincide with the release of Ed Sheeran's new album "Subtract" and his concert at AT&T Stadium. The free pop-up features a paint-by-numbers mural of the album cover, music videos, limited edition merchandise, and interactive activities, such as taking photos and sitting at Sheeran's desk. The album "Subtract" was released today, May 5, and the pop-up is available until Sunday, May 7. (WFAA.com)
