- Two men last seen in Trinity River on Sunday are believed to be dead, according to Dallas Fire-Rescue officials. Dallas police and Dallas Fire-Rescue received a 911 call for a water rescue in the Elm Fork of the Trinity River in Northwest Dallas at about 3:30 p.m. According to officials, the two unnamed males haven't been seen since they went in the water. There have not been any active search or recovery efforts for the men as of Monday morning. (WFAA)
- In a briefing during the Workforce, Education, and Equity committee meeting Monday, Dallas city officials announced plans to expand language access. This includes implementing a revised pay incentive program for city workers and expanding access to resources in different languages. According to the city’s presentation, the Language Skills Assignment Pay (LSAP), aimed at compensating bilingual city workers for “needed oral speaking and listening services in another language," is being revised to include both written and oral testing for eligible city employees to complete before certification. The city also hopes to increase the number of bilingual supervisors and service agents in the coming years. (KERA News)
- The North Dallas Artist Studio Tour is set to return for its 18th year from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. on Saturday and Sunday, Apr. 29–30. The tour will feature 19 art studios and 29 local artists, all of which will be open to the public during the self-guided tour. The artists work with a variety of mediums, including glass, oil paints and watercolors, ceramics, woodworking, and more. Participating artists will be creating pieces live and made available for questions. (Preston Hollow Advocate)
