- The Texas Health and Human Services Commission is hosting a hiring event Saturday, Apr. 22, from 10:000 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. HHSC’s Office of Access and Eligibility Services is looking to fill multiple positions in Dallas and across Texas. Employees in these positions will help people access food, health care, and cash assistance services through Medicaid, the Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program, and the Temporary Assistance for Needy Families program. - Dallas City and the Dallas Independent School District are coming together to fight fentanyl with a fentanyl awareness forum Saturday, Apr. 22, at 8:00 a.m. The event, titled "Dallas ISD Fights Fentanyl," will be an opportunity for parents and community members to receive more information about the opioid epidemic and learn what they can do to make sure they are educating their kids. Aimed to combat the increase in opioid-related deaths, the community event will take place at Yvonne A. Ewell Townview Center. The district will also have Narcan available at campuses in case of an opioid overdose emergency. RSVP is recommended at the link. (FOX 4 News Dallas-Fort Worth)
- In an effort to increase anti-hate awareness, Dallas is looking to adopt the International Holocaust Remembrance Alliance’s (IHRA) working definition of antisemitism. The definition states “Antisemitism is a certain perception of Jews, which may be expressed as hatred toward Jews. Rhetorical and physical manifestations of antisemitism are directed toward Jewish or non-Jewish individuals and/or their property, toward Jewish community institutions and religious facilities.” The proposed solution comes after a man armed with a pistol burst into Congregation Beth Israel in Colleyville during a Sabbath service on Jan. 15, 2022.
