  1. Cristian Bocanegra, a 28-year-old Dallas man, has officially been charged with capital murder in connection with an apparent double-murder suicide. Tracy Cantu, Federico Cantu, and Vincent Cantu were all three of the victims who lost their lives on Monday, Apr. 10. The motive for this violent crime and the circumstances leading up to the event have not been made clear to the public yet. (FOX 4 News)
  2. Texas Health Presbyterian Hospital in Dallas recently announced that Chris York will be the company's new president. He will succeed Jim Parobek, who has been serving in the position since July of 2020. York has more than 30 years of experience in healthcare leadership, and in his most recent position, he served as the market CEO of Community Health Systems at Northwest Health System in Arkansas.   3. On Monday, May 1, Dallas' Independent School District sounded a "Mayday" alarm regarding teacher pay. District officials are demanding action from their state legislators to boost public school funding and urging parents, educators, and supporters to join their fight before the regular legislative session ends on Monday, May 29. Dallas ISD wants lawmakers to start allocating the state's record $32.7 billion surplus to public education. (Dallas Observer)

  • On Saturday, May 6, Safari Nights at the Dallas Zoo will be opening for the summer with The Elton Johns, an Elton John tribute band. All you have to do is purchase an admissions ticket to the zoo and you'll be able to enjoy a day full of animals, as well as an enjoyable night of music.   • The Early Learning department will be assisting families on Saturday, May 20 with the registration process for the 2023-24 school year. The session will go from 10:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. at the Ann Richards STEAM Academy in Dallas.   • Dallas Parks and Recreation is encouraging residents to come to the Farm Fest event on Saturday, May 13 at Samuell Farm.
