- Police detectives have a 22-year-old man in custody who they believe was connected to a deadly overnight shooting that happened on Sunday in northern Dallas. Officials said they responded to the call around 1:30 a.m. in the 10000 block of Steppington Drive, near Highway 75 and Riverfall Drive. Authorities said Taven McGee was identified during the investigation and was subsequently found near the scene and arrested. (WFAA.com)
- Dallas' biotech hub, Pegasus Park, could house a headquarters site for the federal government’s new biomedical research agency after a coalition of Texas cities, including Austin and San Antonio, joined forces to apply for the massive project. “It’s a place that’s a neutral convener of various universities, investor capital, intellectual capital. It’s the place where action is taking place in biotech across the country right now in competition with the West Coast and East Coast,” said Tom Luce, CEO of biotech initiatives at Lyda Hill Philanthropies. The competition for the $2.5B Advanced Research Projects Agency for Health hub is expected to see bids by biotech hotspots like Silicon Valley and North Carolina’s Research Triangle. - Saturday marked the city's first bilingual fentanyl forum, called 'Dallas Fights Fentanyl,' at Townview Center. The Drug Enforcement Agency revealed that 11.4 million fentanyl pills were seized in the city last year. They also wanted the public to know that they’ve seen a shift from prescriptions like Xanax and Percocet being laced with fentanyl, to strictly fentanyl multi-colored pills. (KDFW)
