Here are the top stories in San Antonio today:
- San Antonio neighbors "brace for massive crowds of migrants as Title 42 comes to an end." Anonymous residents expressed their concern for seeing an extreme overflow of migrant faces every single day, from their own front doors. One neighbor noted how much trash has built up from migrants who have been stuck in limbo in the city, before they head to their next destinations. A migrant expressed his goal of moving to New York for work but still needing resources here until that day comes. FOX 29 has the full details from the Migrant Resource Center on how they will move forward with operations.
- San Antonio's McNay Art Museum received a $650,000 national grant that will spotlight a new position to curate Latinx artists' work. McNay's Director Matthew McLendon said, "The curator will help ensure that we are prioritizing the representation and voices of the communities we serve here in San Antonio and the surrounding region." McNay Art Museum is the only museum in Texas to receive this grant along with several other states in the nation. KENS5 has the full story.
- According to the San Antonio River Authority, "more than 27,000 pounds of mixed litter was removed from the San Antonio River" since April 20. Heavy rains and storms during the month of May could possibly add to this debris pile. The San Antonio River Authority plans to work through the weekend to continue to remove the trash. Volunteers and residents admire San Antonio's beauty but also are sorrowful due to the realization that they believe we all have a part in how human trash has ended up in waterways.
