American Momentum Bank expands commercial lending department

American Momentum Bank has hired Wesley S. Herring to serve as Vice President, Commercial Relationship Manager. Herring will serve clients in Devine, Medina County and Southwest San Antonio, and will be responsible for actively seeking new commercial deposit and loan relationships for the bank.

“Wes is a Devine native, making him the perfect fit to serve the Devine community and surrounding areas,”said Wes Hayes, San Antonio Market President for American Momentum Bank. “That, paired with his experience in the lending community, make him the right individual to represent the bank in this role.”

Prior to joining American Momentum Bank, Herring served as a loan officer for Security State Bank in Pearsall, Texas. He has more than seven years of experience in banking and previously worked in the insurance industry as an insurance agent and insurance adjuster.

Herring has strong roots in his hometown community. He has served on the Devine Independent School District Board of Trustees from 2013 to 2019 and was the President of the Frio County Rotary Club from 2012 to 2013.

“When the opportunity arose to work in my hometown and be part of this community, it was something I couldn’t pass up,” said Herring. “I had always heard great things about American Momentum Bank, and the location couldn’t have been better. I’m looking forward to working with the local team and expanding the bank’s commercial lending presence in the town I’ve called home for many years.”

Herrings’ roots in the community date back to 1938, when his ancestors arrived in Devine. Both his father and great grandfather also served on the Devine Independent School District Board of Trustees, and his mother owned a flower shop in town for more than 40 years.

Herring earned his bachelor’s degree in General Psychology from Texas State University.
