SAN ANTONIO (March 3, 2022) – Applications are open for the SA: Ready to Work Advisory Board (Board) and can be found online using the City’s web-based application for boards and commissions at: https://webapp9.sanantonio.gov/BoardCommApplication/vacancies. The Board is currently seeking qualified representatives to fill three vacancies: (1) a representative from a training provider or a higher education institution; (2) a representative from a local employer offering in-demand occupations; and (3) a current or previous City workforce training program participant.

SA: Ready to Work is a San Antonio education and job placement program funded by a 1/8-cent sales and use tax collected through December 2025. The $200M program offers unemployed, underemployed, and under-represented residents the following benefits:

  • Tuition for industry-recognized certifications, associate’s and bachelor’s degrees aligned with targeted occupations in high-demand, well-paid careers;
  • Wraparound support services and emergency assistance to ensure training completion; and
  • Job placement and retention services.


The Board is comprised of 11 (eleven) members:

  • 4 (four) representatives from local employers offering in-demand occupations;
  • 2 (two) current or previous City workforce program participants;
  • 1 (one) representative from a trade and labor organization; 1 (one) representative from a community organization;
  • 1 (one) representative from a training provider or higher education institution; and
  • 2 (two) liaisons/representatives appointed by the Mayor.


The Board has created two Subcommittees, relating to Employer Engagement and Community Outreach and Marketing.

The deadline to submit an application is March 25, 2022.
