Free Advanced Driver Training for Teens Coming to Manheim San Antonio
Get behind the wheel with Ford Driving Skills for Life Nov. 15-16, 2025

Ford Philanthropy and the Governors Highway Safety Association (GHSA), in partnership with the Texas Department of Transportation (TxDOT), are bringing four free, behind-the-wheel driving clinics to the Manheim San Antonio (2042 Ackerman Road, San Antonio) Nov. 15-16, 2025.
Established in 2003, Ford Driving Skills for Life pairs newly licensed or permitted drivers with professional driving instructors for hands-on advanced training that addresses critical factors influencing crashes, including distraction, impairment, speed management and vehicle handling.
“As one of our safe mobility programs, Ford Driving Skills for Life helps new drivers learn critical skills that benefit them whether they are driving a vehicle or using other mobility modes like cycling, scooting or walking while sharing the road with other drivers,” said Mobility Director Joe Provenzano with Ford Philanthropy. “Through a closed course with vehicles that are provided, teens experience critical lessons that will shape a lifetime of safe travel on our roadways.”

Car crashes are a leading cause of teen deaths, but education saves lives. Ford Driving Skills for Life has helped thousands of young drivers build confidence and stay safe on the road.
According to TxDOT, there were 24 motor vehicle traffic crashes in 2024 in the Austin media market in which unrestrained teen occupants (ages 15-20) sustained fatal or serious injuries. These crashes resulted in 8 fatalities and 25 serious injuries.
“Traffic crashes are a leading cause of death for young people in Texas and across the country,” said TxDOT Behavioral Traffic Safety Section Director David Palmer. “Through the Ford Driving Skills for Life events, we're working to reach new drivers with life-saving driving strategies they can use whenever they get behind the wheel.”
