A new telephone central office named “Travis” in memory of Col. William Barrett Travis, hero of the Alamo, goes into service at midnight.
1984
Local businessmen and notables, including Mary Alice Cisneros, wife of Mayor Henry Cisneros, leave their hand and foot prints in wet cement as construction begins on the Westlakes Theater at 1255 SW Interstate 410. Projected opening date for the theater is December 1.
