- San Antonio has plans to expand their mental health response team. The "San Antonio Community Outreach and Resiliency Effort, or SA CORE, program," consists of a mental health clinician, paramedic, and police officer. Together, they respond to mental health crisis' and successfully brought less than 1% arrests out of all phone calls. The team is wanting to expand to the North and the South. - The Cool Pavement pilot program is designed to cool down temperatures in the hottest districts in the city. The "water-based asphalt treatment that can reduce spikes in temperature by reflecting more sunlight and absorbing less heat." The $1 million program is funded by the "City’s Resiliency, Energy Efficiency, and Sustainability Program Fund." To learn more, visit KENS5.
- San Antonio's Asian community believes Texas Senate Bill 147 is a racist bill. This piece of legislation "would ban Chinese, Russians, Iranians and North Koreans from owning farmland, timberland and fossil fuel rights in the state." Yen Yan, past president of the Asian Real Estate Association of America San Antonio, says that the bill is against the federal fair housing guidelines.
