  1. Be Well Texas was awarded $3.4 million to improve recovery housing for young adults ages 18-25. "The UT Health San Antonio program specializes in patients struggling with opioid addiction." With this grant money, the organization is going to use those funds towards: costs for managing recovery houses, counseling services, recovery support peer specialists, mentors, and training and administrative costs. A resident at a transitional home said that it's important to live with other people trying to overcome the same obstacles and that can relate. KSAT San Antonio has the full scoop on this story.
  2. City Forester Michael Holinsky is working hard to identify and fence off trees that pose dangers of falling, before annual Easter camping weekend. Holinsky states that most trees that are being marked for removal are completely dead or in an advanced state of decay that could cause dangers to people who camp near them if the branches fall. Crews have almost completed cordoning off trees that will require removal, however Holinsky's goal is to have them completely removed by Easter weekend. Check with KENS5 for more information.
  3. Police are searching for a male suspect, who may have a connection with two different kidnapping attempts of a girl and a woman. The first kidnap attempt involved a woman who fought, kicked, and screamed for help as she was being pushed into the suspect's vehicle. The second attempt involved a 12-year-old girl walking within a group. Both the woman and girl fought off the suspect and witnesses were available at each incident, describing the horror as they watched. "Police say it’s the same suspect description: a Hispanic male between 18 and 25 years old, 5 feet 9 inches tall, weighing 175 pounds, with brown eyes and brown hair. He was driving a 2009-2010 Maroon Nissan Murano." Visit KSAT San Antonio for more details.
